BLAQSCAPE ENTERTAINMENT BRAND

Many have asked me what Blaqscape entertainment is and why I started this brand for myself. Well most of the story behind the brand came from boredom and necessity due to the lack of diversity of things to do here in Orlando. I have often heard the term “Borlando” amongst the faithful weekend warriors that trek through the streets of Orlando. So I decided to start my own Entertainment/Public Relations brand that focused not only on Sports, Fashion, and Entertainment, but as an avenue to expose the masses to a new outlet of events that they might not have known about.
Here is an awesome video that I made that talks more about the Brand and development behind it. Enjoy!

Business Analysis and ROI

As a marketing expert, what do you think the key components are that a client would consider most important

In this consumer driven market, major companies rely on experienced marketing professionals to connect, collect, convey, and convince consumers to spend their money on products, goods and service. Of course there are plenty of pitfalls that have to be addressed to prevent and well put together campaign from falling short of its intended goals. As a Marketing professional, I would take on the responsibility of addressing those concerns and fears, while promoting the well being of the companies ROI, which really that is probably their biggest concern.

In evaluating the client’s needs for this campaign, there are key components that I believe that would be important to the client. One of the biggest components would be brand notoriety and awareness due to its direct correlation to ROI. Spreading the word in today’s digital age has become very easy to connect with the consuming public in a way that fits them. This brand awareness is very much connected to understanding and knowing whom your target market demographic, and what their needs are. Effective marketing research enables companies to understand and predict how their goods and service will affect consumer spending, and also how to communicate the marketing message to the right person.

To clients in this type of situation keep the Return on Investment in the forefront. Any decisions made toward this are strategic in nature, to protect the bottom line. By increasing sales, brand awareness and notoriety companies can focus on their most important assets.

NHL Carolina Hurricanes Mobility Marketing
Season Ticket Holders

Director of Fan & Community Relations
Carolina Hurricanes

Season ticket holders pay a premium to see their favorite players and team throughout the year, and deserve the best experience that we can provide. With the implementation of our new wireless network throughout the arena, we can use this to improve the fan experience for our season ticket holders. This experience starts before they reach the door by connecting with via social media and sending them the new NHL media package that includes their team hockey RFID bracelet that will be their connection to the arena. Ticket holders not only have all access to meet and greet sessions, premium services/discount, but also can add funds to their Hurricanes account via their NFC enabled smartphone devices. They can check into their sections by swiping their RFID bracelets at key NFC enabled areas at their seats. Also by placing their cellphones in their NFC sticker phone docks they can keep track of stats throughout the game and get a live stream of the bench and helmet cams worn by specific players and referees throughout the game.

Another great aspect of this technology is to award season ticket holders with in game prizes for birthdays and celebration that are recognized via their account with us. The Carolina Hurricanes organization takes pride in our fan base and wants to reward our loyal customers who support us every game. So far there are three tiers to our season ticket packages.

1.     Tropical Depression Member
2.     Tropical Storm Member
3.     Category 5 Hurricane Member

At each level there are premium services and incentives that will encourage fan engagement and participation. All season ticket holders will receive the RFID bracelet to access their package incentive, and also have the chance to win and upgrade to the next level depending on homes games attended. Another extension of our increased use of this wireless system would be to create an application that they can also log into before they step inside the arena and we can interact with the fans directly to enhance fan experience through our social media outlets. Within our plan we never want to forget our local and worldwide military fan base as well so we can also extend a special package to current military members, veterans and their families as well. I believe that this is only the start to a complete end-to-end fan experience that will create a loyalty like no other.

Wireless Network Design

Technological advances within the realm of sports have greatly improved the interaction between fans and their favorite team/organization/club. Through constant R&D, and market research, many organizations rely on technology to stay connected with their fan base. In my own experience I have seen technology such as Wifi and RFID tags used to improved user experience, so that’s why I believe they are a great resource in this matter.

Many stadiums and arenas have grown to an enormous size, and connection is the key to a great event. From fan relations, to social media, and even contests/prize a giveaway, Wi-Fi keeps everyone connected at all times. Many teams have installed repeaters through out to connect you as close as the parking lot to the fan experience, even giving away early prizes to fans connected with the team through social media. This also gives the fans a way to share the experience with their social circle that are not in attendance. This is what many teams are banking on, because this increases the conversation from a two-way conversation to a super highway. Connecting with other social circles through a simple tweet or post.

Another cool technology is the RFID that can be worn as a wristband like at Disney, or even as a commemorative ring. This technology allows you to have access to certain areas, participate in certain promotions, and deals as well. This also helps with crowd control and keeping the flow of traffic moving into the complex. Picture a fan entering the arena with a programed RFID that has his tickets, beer and concession pre-purchases (Discounted Rate), and club seating access all on one wristband. This could be a great advantage to premium, and season ticket holders. So as you can see technology not only increases fan experience, but fuels the flames of organizations consistent drive to improve their reach, and brand notoriety.

Cell Phones: Impacting Today & Shaping Tomorrow

Communication has always been an essential and integral part of today’s society. With billions of people surrounding the globe vying to stay connected to the rest of the world, and connect with the ones they love. In this day and age cell phones and wireless devices have become the norm to effectively achieve such ease of access to the rest of the world. Cellphones keep us not only connected to our daily lives but also the brands, games, social interactions and companies that encompass our daily routines. Since cellphones have become a part of our daily lives, the technology has come along way.

Continuous advances in technology have allowed us to connect via Wifi with the rest of the world at anytime and anyplace. I can remember in my travels around the world taking and sharing photos, updating family on my where a bouts and even staying in contact with those I have met along the way. The smart devices now have the capability to handle and duplicate multiple processes at the same time just like a computer. A the term cell phone fades into the distance, and Smart Phones drive the future of communication, you can clearly see that they have created a huge impact on society, and that journey is not yet over. As devices get smaller and smaller it only a matter of time before space aged technology takes over and the real dawn of the communication evolution begins.

Public Relations Spotlight

This evening I conducted a small interview with Michael Laderman who is the Director of Communications for Clemson University. During this interview Michael gave a synopsis of his role at Clemson, but also gave some insight on the dynamics of the field, and some things that he and his team are doing within their organization.

In my opinion  the interview also gave a unique perspective on the role of Public Relations and how it plays a part of the overall goal within your organization. More towards the end of the interview he expressed how being yourself goes a long way in this business, and I think that people will remember you for it. Check out the interview, let me know what you think!
